Dylan Kinch of the Long Island University men's ice hockey team was named Independent Hockey Rookie of the Month for the second straight month, the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA) announced. The AHCA also recognized senior forward
Brett Rylance as an honorable mention selection for forward of the month.
In November, Kinch recorded eight points in eight games with two goals and six assists. He recorded two multi-point performances in November, with a goal and an assist in a 6-3 win over Robert Morris University on Nov. 7 and a goal and two assists in a 6-2 win against the University of Minnesota on Nov. 14.
Kinch is currently tied for the team lead with 17 points this season. He is second in goals scored with seven and second in assists with 10.
In November, Rylance scored four goals with four assists in eight games.
The Sharks return to action on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Merrimack College for the third game of the season between the Warriors and the Sharks. The two sides have split this season's previous meetings, with LIU earning a 5-2 road win on Oct. 25, answered by a 6-2 road win by Merrimack on Nov. 21. Puck drop on Saturday is scheduled for 6 p.m.
