J.R Perdion scores twice, Sharks earn weekend split

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. - Tied 2-2 in the third period, the Long Island University men's ice hockey time (6-9-0) rattled off three goals in the final 10 minutes to down Lindenwood University (8-6-0), 5-2, on Saturday night to earn a split in the weekend series between DI Independents. J.R Perdion led the Sharks with two goals and three points.

LIU led 2-1 through the first two periods behind goals from Trevor Griebel and Perdion but relinquished the lead when Lindenwood's Jacob Fletcher scored at the 8:54 mark of the third period, tying the game 2-2.

Moments later a hooking call against Lindenwood's Ethan Zielke put LIU on the power play. Perdion scored his second goal of the game at 10:07 via an assist from Noah Serdachny, his third assist of the weekend, giving the Sharks a 3-2 lead.

At 13:18 Louis-Philippe Fontaine was called for charging, and LIU went on the power play again. Serdachny scored at 14:12, assisted by Perdion and Nate Benoit, stretching the lead to 4-2.

The Sharks tacked on another goal with just less than three minutes to play at even strength when Isaac Lambert scored via an assist from Serdachny. Serdachny tied Perdion with a game-high three points.
