BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Greg Gordon of the Long Island University men's basketball team was named the NEC Men's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday, highlighted by leading the Sharks in scoring against IU Indy last week.

Gordon finished the week with 40 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists, 2 blocks, 5 steals and only 3 turnovers in two games.

The Chicago, Illinois native scored 29 points in LIU's 94-90 win at IU Indy on Thursday, scoring 17 in the second half to help surge LIU's comeback. A late basket by Gordon gave the Sharks an 89-88 lead in the game, which LIU held on to for the road win.

29 points are the third-most in a game for Gordon at the Division I level.

In addition to Gordon's award, junior Mason Porter-Brown was named an NEC Prime Performer. Porter-Brown finished last week with 30 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and two blocks.

The Gainesville, Florida native scored a team-high 12 points in LIU's season-opener at Notre Dame on Monday, then scored 18 points in the win over IU Indy.
