BRIDGEWATER, N.J. - The Long Island University men's basketball team was unanimously selected to win the conference in the NEC Preseason Poll, while redshirt senior Malachi Davis and graduate student Jamal Fuller were named as Preseason All-NEC selections on Monday.
The Sharks, who finished second in the NEC last season, enter the 2025-26 season with three returning All-NEC selections; Davis (First-Team All-NEC), Fuller (Second-Team All-NEC), and sophomore Shadrak Lasu (NEC All-Rookie Team). LIU finished the 2024-25 season with a 17-15 overall record and a 12-4 mark in conference play, reaching the semifinals of the NEC Tournament.
Behind the Sharks in the NEC Preseason Poll were Central Connecticut State University, Stonehill College, Mercyhurst University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Chicago State University, Saint Francis University, Wagner College, Le Moyne College, and the University of New Haven.
Davis was a three-time NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week selection and a 10-time NEC Prime Performer last season, averaging 17.7 points, three rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game last winter.
Fuller was a four-time NEC Prime Performer in 2024-25, averaging 12.5 points, 6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game with the Sharks.
LIU tips off the 2025-26 season on the road against the University of Notre Dame on Nov. 3.
