BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — LIU women's tennis head coach
Chad Davis has been named the NEC Coach of the Year.
Davis, a veteran coach of over 20 years, led the women's program to a NEC Championship on April 14 in his first season at LIU.
Davis, a reigning NEC Coach of the Year and three-time winner of the award, coached the women to an 11-5 record. Davis is also the head coach of the men's program.
The Sharks shined in the NEC Tournament. Davis led the women to a three-match sweep after beating Stonehill, Saint Francis, and FDU in the finals.
"What a remarkable season for our student-athletes and our program," said Davis. "The team made the transition so easy for me. I am thankful for them and the athletics department at LIU."
Davis' first season leading the Sharks has been a remarkable one. Davis led
Leo Boisseau,
Saki Oyama,
Mia Tsoukalas,
Clara Tardivel, and
Lucy Garrigues to 2024 NEC All-Conference honors. Tsoukalas was also named to the 2024 NEC All-Rookie Team.
LIU plays at #5 Virginia in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday May 4 at 1p.m., in Charlottesville.
"It's going to be a great experience for our student-athletes," said Davis. "We are ready to compete and send our seniors off on a high note."
