Box Score DOVER, Del. — The LIU women's lacrosse team secured its second-straight win after defeating Delaware State 16-7.
Olivia Fantigrossi initiated the scoring for the Sharks in the opening minute of play, propelling LIU to an early 1-0 lead.
Lindsey Lucia and
Rachel Weber each scored two goals in the first quarter. LIU opened up to a 5-2 lead.
Selia Lyons and
Olivia Fantigrossi added two more goals in the final five minutes of the second quarter, extending LIU's lead to 7-3 at halftime.
Julia Trainor opened the scoring for the Sharks in the third quarter and finished the game with a team-high five points, including three goals and two assists.
Erin Harkins scored a pair of goals, and
Jenna Lewis scored to give LIU a 12-4 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Kelly Bergersen's late goal in the final minute of the fourth quarter sealed the victory for LIU.
Fantigrossi completed the game with a hat trick, while Lyons wrapped up her stellar performance with a pair of goals.
Mylie Norton stopped eight shots in her second consecutive win.
LIU will host Wagner on Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Bethpage Federal Credit Union Stadium.
