CANTON, Mass. — The LIU women's golf team has established a new program record for a round.
Competing at the Red Bandanna Intercollegiate hosted by Boston College at Blue Hill Country Club on Monday and Tuesday, the Sharks shot a second-round 297.
Not only did that match the second-best round of any of the 17 teams at the event, it also marked the first time in Sharks history that LIU had a sub-300 round.
The Sharks finished fifth overall, producing a 63-over 312-297-318-927.
Simran Singh was LIU's top finisher — 18th overall, with a 77-76-76-229.
During that stellar second round,
Emily Byrne shot an eye-popping 2-under 70, while
Hailey Holbdy fired a 75 and
Lathika Krishna and Singh each shot 76.
"I'm so incredibly proud of the hard work this team has put into their games this semester," coach Lily Bartell said. "Hitting this milestone is a great indicator the work is paying off. I'm really looking forward to getting back out there and going even lower."
The Sharks return to action this upcoming weekend at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md.
