BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The LIU men's volleyball program has achieved another first.
Men's volleyball outside hitter Gustavo Cavalcanti has signed a professional contract with Verona Volley in Italy.
The 6-foot-4 Cavalcanti, who hails from Lisbon, Portugal, had his signing announced by the club on Thursday.
He becomes the first player from the two-year-old LIU program to sign a professional volleyball contract.
Cavalcanti appeared in seven early season matches with LIU, producing 73 kills.
"Gustavo is a very dynamic player," LIU coach
