BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Long Island University men's volleyball team (14-14, 6-6 NEC) closed out the 2026 regular season with a win over D'Youville University on Saturday, defeating the Saints in three sets.
The Sharks excelled in the opening set, taking a 15-7 lead midway through the set. A seven-point Shark scoring run extended LIU's lead to 14, before the Sharks won the set 25-11 on a D'Youville service error.
LIU jumped out to a 5-1 lead in Saturday's second set, and a later eight-point scoring run stretched the Shark lead to 13-4. The Sharks claimed the second set 25-18 on a kill by sophomore Lucas Ramos.
D'Youville took an early 3-1 lead in the third set, though a 6-1 Shark scoring run put LIU back on top. The Sharks never trailed again in the final set, closing out with a kill by redshirt sophomore Heston Cabinian for a 25-19 win.
Senior Kale Spencer led LIU with 11 kills and 10 digs, followed by eight kills by Ramos and seven kills by senior Isaac Benka. Sophomore Owen Holowecky led with 29 assists, while Benka, Ramos, senior Vanja Petrasinovic, and Cabinian tied for a team-high three total blocks.
