BROOKLYN, N.Y. — LIU men's and women's swimming honored its 10 graduating seniors on Saturday.
The men's team was victorious over Wagner, 150-110, but the women fell, 172-90.
To add to the success of the weekend,
Venna Andersen and
Emilio Garcia broke the school records in the 100 IM.
Both men's and women's 200-yard medley relay teams finished first on day one.
Andersen (1:06.70) and
Giannis Venetos (58.87) placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Another pair of Sharks —
Ella Johnson and Dani Chocano Fernandez — were the top finishers in the 200-yard butterfly.
To finish day one, Garcia placed first in the 50-yard freestyle.
Garcia also added to his banner weekend with a 47.78 first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle.
Among other first-place finishes:
Stephen Taylor in the 200-yard breastroke, Chocano Fernandez in the 500-yard freestyle and 200-yard IM, Andersen in the 100-yard butterfly and
Ethan Law in the 100-yard butterfly.
