Emma Brown joined LIU as an assistant coach for the 2021-22 season, maintaining her swimming connection with head coach Bobby Smith.
In her first season with the Sharks, Brown led the distance and IM groups, which enjoyed multiple swimmers placing in the top eight in their respective events at the NEC Championship
meet.
Brown arrived at LIU from Adelphi, where she swam for Smith from 2016 through ’20.
A two-time captain, 17-time record-holder and NE10 honor roll athlete with Adelphi, Brown joined the Sharks with 15 years of swimming experience.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in anthropology and public health from Adelphi in 2020.
Her other notable coaching experiences include serving as the head coach of the Schuyler Meadows Country Club and Schenectady Jewish Community Center swim teams. She also has a background as an aquatic director at the JCC of Schenectady.
