BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — LIU student-athletes are well-represented among the health and physical education majors at Long Island University. And those students are welcoming the relaunch of the campus' Health & Physical Education Club.
Not only is this club a great opportunity for students who want to become physical education and health teachers, it also intends to impact the health and wellness landscape on campus.
Designed for those who are passionate about teaching and advocating for health and fitness, the club provides a place for students to grow and develop in the physical education
and health field.
Being a health and physical major is not a prerequisite to joining the club, although the club is particularly attractive to those who want to become a physical education teacher,
a health educator or a wellness professional.
The club intends to host and attend conferences and workshops in order to stay abreast of trends. It also aims to help with job placement.
The club currently has 61 members, of which 25 are LIU student-athletes, including football tight end Owen Glascoe, dance team captain Juliana Georgiadis and women's soccer NEC all-rookie selection Stephanie Schubert.
