LIU Announces 2026 Athletics Hall of Fame Class

Induction ceremony on Sunday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at Brooklyn Paramount

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - Long Island University announced the inductees for the 2026 class of the LIU Athletics Hall of Fame, recognizing individuals and teams whose achievements have made a lasting impact on the University's athletic programs and legacy.

The induction ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Brooklyn Paramount. The ceremony will be hosted by sportscaster Alan Hahn '93, who will also be inducted as a member of this year's class.

Brendon Rodney '16 is one of the most accomplished track and field student-athletes in LIU history. A seven-time NCAA All-American, Rodney won multiple NEC championships and set several school records during his LIU career. He is a three-time Olympic medalist and a world championships gold medalist, as a member of Canada's 4×100-meter relay team. Rodney graduated from LIU in 2016 with a master's degree in exercise science.

Bryan Collins served LIU for more than two decades as Head Football Coach and Director of Athletics. From 1998 to 2021, he led the football program to a school-record 162 victories, six postseason appearances, and eight conference championships. He was named conference coach of the year seven times. Collins later served on the inaugural LIU Sharks leadership team. The former LIU coach passed away in 2023 at the age of 58.

Richard Kahn '74 has had a long and distinguished career as a public address announcer and sports communications executive. He served as the PA voice for the New York Jets for 19 seasons, the longest tenure in franchise history, and announced games for the New York Islanders for 13 seasons, various collegiate programs including LIU's Post campus, and NCAA championship events. Since 2005, he has worked as the voice of the Palestra and the University of Pennsylvania Athletics.

Laura Fekete '24 won an individual national championship at the 2021 NCAA Women's Fencing Championships in women's épée, becoming the first LIU student-athlete to capture an NCAA national title across all sports. She also earned multiple NCAA and NIWFA honors and helped lead the LIU women's épée team to a NIWFA silver medal in 2023.

Alan Hahn '93 is a sports journalist, radio host, television analyst, and author. A former LIU men's basketball student-athlete, Hahn has covered the New York Knicks and Islanders for Newsday, served as an analyst for MSG Networks since 2010, and has been a host on ESPN Radio since 2012, regularly making appearances ESPN's national television and radio programs. He is the author of five books.

Tony Bozzella coached at LIU's Southampton College for eight seasons ('92-'00) and then led the Division I women's basketball program in Brooklyn from 2000 to 2002. He led the program to its first NCAA Tournament appearance and earned New York State Division I Coach of the Year honors. He has since held head coaching positions at Iona College and Seton Hall University.

The 2010 LIU softball team went 39-18, notching a program record for wins in Division I, won an NEC Championship, and reached the NCAA Tournament.

The 2013 LIU women's lacrosse team capped a perfect 20–0 season by winning the NCAA Championship, defeating Limestone College to secure its second consecutive national title.

The 2022 LIU baseball team posted 37–21 record, setting a program record for Division I wins, won the NEC Championship, and earned an NCAA Tournament berth for the first time since 2018. The team was coached by LIU alumnus Dan Pirillo, who led the program to regionals for the first time in the Sharks era.
