BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Hailey Holbdy won her age group's longest drive at the Junior Golf National Championship last month while competing at Koasati Pines Golf Club in Kinder, Louisiana.
Next academic year, she will be joining the Sharks.
A native of Gibraltar, Mich., Holbdy is LIU women's golf coach
Lily Bartell's latest signee for the 2023-24 incoming class.
Holbdy attends Leadbetter Junior Golf Academy in ChampionsGate, Florida.
She joins an incoming class that includes previously announced Alexa Garrett (Wichita, Kansas), Lathika Krishna (Bangalore, India), Laine Leonard (Montgomery, Ill.) and Simran Singh (Barrington, Ill.).
"On my visit, the team and community made me feel like LIU was a place I could call home," Holbdy said. "I'm excited to compete with people who care about golf and keep the fun of the game alive. I am most excited to gain another family next year. Golf is much more fun with a team."
Said Bartell: "I'm so grateful to Hailey and her family for committing to LIU. She is an impressive student and has spent the last couple of years training hard and tailoring her game. I can't wait to see all she accomplishes here and believe she will be a wonderful addition to this incoming class."
