BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Four Long Island University athletic programs received NEC Team GPA awards on Thursday, awarded to the program with the highest GPA during the 2025-26 academic year in their respective sports. LIU's four awards were the third-most in the NEC.
The LIU men's golf program (3.78 GPA) claimed its second consecutive NEC Team GPA award, and was joined by the Sharks' women's golf (3.8 GPA), men's soccer (3.55 GPA), and men's volleyball (3.3 GPA) programs in being honored this season.
LIU student-athletes shined in the classroom during the 2025-26 academic year, as the Sharks had 343 total selections to the NEC's Academic Honor Roll (3.2 or higher GPA) and 135 selections to the NEC's Commissioner's Honor Roll (3.75 or higher GPA) over the course of the fall, winter, and spring seasons.
Four LIU student-athletes received NEC Scholar-Athlete awards during their seasons; Sam Keogan (men's soccer), Jamal Fuller (men's basketball), Martin Navelsaker Beitveit (men's swimming), and Arjun Singh Bhatia (men's golf).
Additionally, senior Sophia Paffrath (women's soccer) was one of 13 NEC student-athletes to be named an NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Wednesday.
