Women's Fencing Edges Tufts, 14-13, in First of Two Meetings in 2022-23

MEDFORD, Mass. — The LIU women's fencing team picked up its first win of the calendar year on Sunday.

The Sharks took down Tufts, 14-13, and improved to 17-9.

The team also faced Northwestern and Wellesley, but the matches counted as scrimmages and did not change their overall record.

This marks the first of two meetings between the two schools this season.

LIU won sabre, 7-2, and epee, 5-4.

The sabre group consisted of Chesja-Kaili Seck, Lu Pekelman and Neveah Ulibari.

Narrowly defeating Tufts in epee were Sarah Ellis, Laura Fekete and Costanza Greggi.

LIU returns to action at home for the Tri-State Shark Showcase in Brooklyn on Jan. 29 at 10 a.m.
