POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – On Saturday in their MAAC Championships Semi-final matchup against Marist College, the LIU women's water polo team did what it's done best this season: win. The Sharks took the game 13-7 over the Foxes.
Led in scoring by the MAAC's Co-Defensive Player of the Year
Elena Camarena with five goals, the Sharks dominated the Foxes.
Jessica Dean was able to convert four of her shots into goals, the pair combining for nine of LIU's 13 goals.
Julia Zebak played the entire game in the cage for the Sharks and saved 10 shots, ensuring that although the LIU only outshot the Foxes 27-25, their goal conversion was what gave them their edge in the matchup.
In the MAAC title match tomorrow, LIU will face off against the only league opponent that's managed to best them throughout the regular season, the Wagner College Seahawks. In their most recent head-to-head, LIU led the game at halftime, but the Seahawks took the game 12-10 in the end. The game is set to start at 2 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
