BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The LIU bowling team took on the Northeast Conference this weekend, at NEC Meet No. 3, the final weekend of regular season league competition. The Sharks went 2-1 on day one action, and 2-2 on the last day, to finish the weekend with a 4-3 record.
SHARK BITES
- On day one, LIU opened up with a win over Saint Francis U., 1023-906 (197-146, 211-210, 198-205, 212-172, 205-173).
- The Sharks then fell to No. 11 Duquesne, 898 to 952. (181-176, 179-178, 189-184, 181-233, 168-181).
- LIU capped the day with a big win, defeating No. 10 Mount St. Mary's, 979 to 899 (198-166, 179-181, 218-187, 209-195, 175-170).
- LIU also opened day two with a win, beating Wagner, 925-863 (170-190, 188-161, 188-165, 190-155, 188-192).
- The Sharks fell to No. 12 FDU next, 986 to 1076 (201-279, 191-195, 190-193, 183-239, 221-171), but would bounce back with an 860-738 win over St. Francis Brooklyn, 860-738 (150-147, 181-145, 136-124, 202-143, 190-179).
- The final match of the day was a dramatic one. The Sharks tied with No. 19 Sacred Heart in five games, 982-982, and had to take part in a modified baker roll-off. The two teams went pin for pin, 225-147, 184-186, 222-230, 176-198, 176-221. But in the five-frame roll off, SHU won, 128-107, to take the victory.
- Up next, the Sharks take part in the USBC Sectionals on March 11, before heading off to Tennessee to take part in the Columbia 300 Music City Classic.
