Bowling Takes on Top Teams at Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. – The LIU bowling team took on four teams in traditional team matches Saturday at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt. The Sharks went 1-3 Saturday, after a 5-0 start Friday. After two days, they're 6-3, and sit in 15th out of 33 teams.
 
SHARK BITES
  • The Sharks opened the day with a match against No. 2 Nebraska, falling to the Huskers, 1063-882. Senior Patricia Kelly and sophomore Sarah Orensky led LIU with 207s.
  • LIU then took on North Carolina A&T, losing 1065-925. Senior Kellie Frain led the Sharks, bowling a 214, while Orensky had a 202.
  • LIU bowled 899 against the bye, with Frain bowling another 214.
  • The Sharks came out of the bye to capture their first win of the day, beating #18 Wisconsin-Whitewater, 941-886. Kelly led the team with a 205, while Frain and Orensky both bowled a 204.
  • LIU capped the day with a loss to Alabama State, 988-873.
  • Up next, the Sharks take on the field Sunday, in a three round, best of seven baker bracket. LIU will open against Central Missouri
