Bowling Sets Record in Undefeated First Day at Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. – The LIU bowling team had a banner first day at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt. The Sharks went a a perfect 5-0, and are in ninth place out of 33 teams after day one. LIU also bowled a program record for a five-game baker set, in the last match of the day, as they beat #6 Arkansas State.
 
SHARK BITES
  • LIU opened the day with a 921-880 win over Emmanuel (192-158, 188-134, 156-220, 186-201, 199-167).
  • In match two of the day, the Sharks came from behind to beat Tusculum by three pins, 888-885 (177-188, 146-161, 178-184, 165-202, 221-150).
  • LIU then went on to beat Aurora, 994-874 (236-185, 165-183, 224-158, 184-192, 185-156) and Carroll, 988-779 (236-131, 180-171, 162-182, 183-161, 227-134).
  • The Sharks ended the day with a record-breaking win. LIU beat #6 Arkansas State, 1220-1003, the highest five-game baker set in program history. And the Sharks opened the set on a high note, bowling a 298 to start off on fire, bowl over 200 in every match, and take the win (298-210, 218-184, 279-212, 220-236, 205-161).
  • The Sharks resume play at the Columbia 300 Music City Classic Saturday, March 19 at 9:30 a.m., with five traditional team games.
