Baseball Duels with Yale

Box Score NEW HAVEN, CONN. – LIU baseball traveled to Yale on Thursday for a non-conference duel, falling to the Bulldogs, 9-6. With the loss, the Sharks fall to 6-7 on the season.

SHARK BITES

In the top of the first, Michael Edelman walked with one out to give the Sharks an early baserunner. EJ Exposito would single to right, and Edelman would swipe third on a stolen base. After the stolen bag, Carlton Harper roped a triple to right to score both runners, giving LIU a 2-0 lead.
Christopher Wasson reached on a fielder's choice and stole second, then Colin Adams would later single to right, scoring Wasson to grow the advantage to 3-0.
Yale would respond with three runs in the first, four runs in the third, and two runs in the fourth to take a 9-3 lead.
In the top of the fifth, Edelman sent a fly ball deep to left field that would leave the yard for his first career Sharks homerun, narrowing the gap to 9-4, Bulldogs.
Seth Surrett would pinch hit for RJ Latkowski in the sixth with two men on base. Surrett would single to right center to score Adams and Wasson, making it 9-6, Yale, heading to the bottom of the sixth.
Jarod Wade drew a walk to give the Sharks a baserunner in the ninth, but LIU left Wade on base to end the game.
Harper and Surrett each notched two RBIs on the evening to lead the offense. This marked the first time this season that Surrett batted in two runs.
Nick DeSalvo was given the loss, and Grant Kipp earned the win for Yale.
Up next, the Sharks return to New York to face Fordham on Friday, March 11 at 1:00 p.m.
