SHARKS WIN! Fencing Goes 3-0 at Wagner Invite

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The LIU women's fencing team went 3-0 at the Wagner College Brian Palestis Memorial Invitational Sunday. The Sharks beat FDU (22-5), Yeshiva (27-0) and Wagner (15-12).

  • LIU was nearly perfect on the day. Against FDU, LIU won 22-5. The epee squad went 8-1, saber went 8-1, and the foil team won, 6-3.
  • The Sharks were perfect against Yeshiva, as foil, epee and saber all went 9-0, to clinch a 27-0 win for LIU.
  • The biggest battle of the day came against the host Seahawks, but LIU came out on top, 15-12. There was a one-match difference in every weapon. Epee, foil and saber all won 5-4.

  • Up next the Sharks begin post-season competition. Firsts, the NIWFA Championships, Saturday, March 5, before heading north to take part in the NCAA regionals, Sunday, March 13.
