SHARKS WIN! Bowling Takes Championship Title at Monmouth Hawk Invite

HAMILTON, N.J. – The LIU bowling team took the team title at the Monmouth Hawk Invitational Sunday, their first tournament championship of the season. Senior Kellie Frain was named MVP.

  • The day started with a traditional match against St. Francis Brooklyn, which the Sharks won, 991-824. Frain bowled a 277 to lead LIU to the win.
  • With the win, the Sharks held on to the No. 1 seed, heading into the meet's best-of-7 bracket matches.
  • In the first match, LIU took on host and #24 nationally-ranked Monmouth, beating the Hawks, 4.5 games to 3.5 games. (160-247, 162-185, 168-167, 204-169, 190-192, 201-201, 190-167). LIU advanced to the championship match after winning the five-frame roll off, 104-72.
  • In the championship match, the Sharks won handily, beating Wilmington, four games to one (219-148, 171-178, 220-193, 234-179, 214-160).
  • Up next, the Sharks head to NEC Meet #3, March 5-6 in Bethlehem, Pa.
