HAMILTON, N.J. – The LIU bowling team went 4-1 on the first day of the Monmouth Hawk Invitational, and sit in first place in the team standings.
 
SHARK BITES

• LIU opened the day with a win over Saint Francis U., 1051-876 (201-184, 188-179, 203-163, 234-169, 224-181).
• The Sharks' lone loss of the day came to No. 24 Monmouth, 1000-952 (211-185, 159-145, 145-234, 227-235, 210-201).
• LIU then rattled off three straight wins to finish the day.
• The Sharks beat Caldwell, 979-954 (208-184, 176–178, 195-167, 224-237, 176-188), and then Felician, 909-801 (172-182, 171-133, 193-171, 182-145, 191-170).
• LIU capped the day with a 1027-923 win over Molloy (198-181, 188-189, 236-201, 201-162, 204-190).
• Day two of the Hawk Invite begins Saturday.
