BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU women's gymnastics team returned home to host North Carolina State on Sunday afternoon in the Pratt Recreation Center. The Sharks fell to the Wolfpack by a score of 196.725 to 195.050, which sets a new school record for total team score in a meet. Additionally, junior
Amanda Loo scored a 9.925 on on her floor exercise, setting a new school record.
SHARK BITES
- LIU started the day on vault, with Loo earning the team's best score of 9.775, which tied her season high. The Sharks moved to the second rotation with a team score of 48.250.
- On uneven bars, the Sharks a score of 9.850 from both Jah'Liyah Bedminster and Mara Titarsolej, the recent EAGL Specialist of the Week.
- Moving to the beam, LIU saw three new season bests when sophomore Cael Bixler started with a mark of 9.875, and sophomore Ella Castellanos would follow with a 9.825. Sophomore Alana Ricketts earned a 9.825, as well, which not only set a season best but a personal best. Bixler was declared the winner of the event, her first win of the season.
- The Sharks transitioned to the floor for the fourth and final rotation, where Loo won the event with a score of 9.925. Sophomore Reagan Jones and Bedminster also had marks of 9.825.
- Up next, the Sharks will travel to the Brown University Quad Meet in Providence, R.I. along with Brown, the University of Bridgeport, and Rhode Island College on Sunday, February 20.
