STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The LIU women's track and field team christened its new season by having multiple athletes succeed in the Fasttrack Season Opener on Friday.
Camille Watson began the afternoon strong by finishing third in the 60m dash.
Three Sharks placed inside the top-10 in the 500m run —
Hachlaine Petit (1:18.89), Watson (1:19.86), and
London Claxton (1:21.00).
In the 3000m,
Rali Mihaylova finished second (10:24.76) among 12 runners.
Sade Panton and
Faith Shaw placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the shot put. Shaw also earned a spot on the podium with a third-place 15.41m weighted throw.
LIU returns to action on Saturday at the St. John's Invitational.
