BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Graduate student libero
Anastasia Scott has made her presence felt on the defensive end this season within the conference and the country.
For the third time this season, the Jacksonville, Fla., native was named NEC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.
"It was really fun to watch Anastasia play against two of the top offensive teams in the NEC," coach
Ken Ko said. "She continues to find new and different ways to improve her game. This is the root of her greatness. There is no accident for her being in the top 10 nationally in digs."
Scott, the conference's two-time reigning Defensive Player of the Year, piled up 33 digs in a win against Saint Francis U on Friday night.
She is ranked seventh in the NCAA with 5.47 digs per set. Additionally, she notched 19 digs in three sets against FDU this past week, nearing an average of 7.5 digs per set in two matches.
Overall, she has accumulated 372 digs in 19 matches.
With a record of 10-9 overall and 5-2 in the NEC, the Sharks continue conference play with a match at St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday at 5 p.m.
