BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The Long Island University women's volleyball team (20-8, 15-1 NEC) will travel to Lincoln, Nebraska on Friday, taking on the top-seeded University of Nebraska Cornhuskers in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
LIU punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a four-set win over Saint Francis University in the NEC Championship Game on Nov. 22, after defeating Mercyhurst University 3-0 in the conference semifinals the night prior. The Sharks finished the regular season with a 15-1 record in NEC matches, claiming their 12th NEC regular season title in program history. The Sharks have now won 13 NEC Tournament titles.
Junior Sara van Gisteren was named the tournament MVP, and joined senior Karly Klaer and sophomore Miabella Musignac on the NEC All-Tournament Team.
Friday's match between the Sharks and Cornhuskers is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. EST. The match will be televised on ESPN+.
