BRIDGEWATER, N.J. — Five members of the Long Island University women's volleyball team received All-NEC honors on Thursday, including sophomore Miabella Musignac being named the NEC Defensive Player of the Year and senior Karly Klaer taking home NEC Setter of the Year honors.
Along with Musignac and Klaer, junior Sara van Gisteren and junior Yasmeen Muhammad were also First-Team All-NEC selections. Sophomore Bella Correia was named to the Second-Team All-NEC list.
Musignac finished the 2025 regular season with 377 digs, one short of the NEC-leading mark, and led the conference with 4.01 digs per set. The San Juan, Puerto Rico native recorded double-digit digs in 23 of 26 matches during the regular season and had at least 15 digs in 13 matches.
The sophomore libero earned five NEC Defensive Player of the Week awards this fall, and seven NEC Prime Performer awards.
Klaer was a six-time NEC Prime Performer this fall, racking up 120 kills (.248 hitting percentage), 933 assists, a career-high 39 service aces, 241 digs, and 33 total blocks (8 solo, career-high).
The St. Joseph, Michigan native was second in the NEC in assists per set with 9.93 and was seventh in the conference in digs per set with 2.56.
Playing her first season of Division I volleyball, van Gisteren totaled 355 kills (.223 hitting percentage), 46 service aces, 232 digs, and 52 total blocks with the Sharks this fall. Her 355 kills was the second-most in the NEC this season, and she also finished eighth in the conference in digs per set (2.52).
The Leuth, Netherlands native was a three-time NEC Player of the Week honoree and received seven NEC Prime Performer awards.
Muhammad excelled at middle blocker, posting 208 kills on a hitting percentage of .440, a hitting percentage that led the NEC and was the sixth-highest mark across Division I. The Shoreline, Washington native also recorded 21 digs this season and had 97 total blocks (23 solo).
The junior middle blocker has received an NEC Player of the Week honor this season and was a three-time NEC Prime Performer.
Correia totaled 181 kills on a hitting percentage of .255 this season, also finishing the regular season with 15 service aces, 67 digs, and 14 total blocks. Her 2.74 digs per set was the seventh-highest mark in the NEC this season.
The Sao Paulo, Brazil native was a two-time NEC Prime Performer this season and now holds two Second-Team All-NEC honors.
LIU hosts the NEC Volleyball Tournament this week, beginning Friday, Nov. 21. The top-seeded Sharks take on No. 4 Mercyhurst University on Friday at 7 p.m.
