HEWLET HARBOR, N.Y. — The LIU men's golf team ran away with its first home competition of the academic year.
Kyle Underwood finished first overall and the Sharks topped Wagner and Hofstra at The Seawane Club Classic on Monday and Tuesday.
LIU shot a 6-under-par 858 over three rounds, while Wagner shot 893 and Hofstra shot 927.
Underwood finished 2-under par, shooting 72-70-72-214. He was followed by teammates
Jan Rybczynski (74-71-70-215) and
Ary Mohan (70-71-74-215) in a second-place tie.
"It's great to see Kyle win," coach
Ben Belfield said. "He's worked on his putting, which showed massive improvement this week. It was a good overall team performance with three in the top 3."
As for The Seawane Club course, Belfield added: "Thanks to Seawane for a great golf course and perfect conditions."
