SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The LIU women's fencing team went 6-2 Saturday at the DeCicco Duals, hosted by Notre Dame. The Sharks notched wins over Detroit Mercy, Cleveland State, the University of Florida's club team, Wayne State, Lawrence and Dension, falling only to Northwester and the host Irish.

SHARK BITES
- Against Detroit Mercy, LIU went 9-0 in both foil and epee.
- LIU had two wins in each weapon against Northwestern. In foil, Anna Szántay won 5-2 against her first opponent, and Kristina Sarkisian also had a 5-4 win. Chejsa-Kaili Seck had two wins in sabre, going 2-1 against the Wildcats, while Guerrero and Nicole Nicou each had wins in epee.
- Cleveland State won epee, 5-4, but the Sharks took sabre 5-4, and dominated in foil, 7-2 to clinch the win.
- Foil also went 8-1 against Florida, while epee was 7-2, and sabre pulled out the 5-4 victory against the Gators.
- The Wayne State match also saw every weapon squad win. Sabre was a perfect 9-0, while foil (6-3) and epee (7-2) also did well.
- Notre Dame had decisive wins over the Sharks, but Seck won a match to start sabre off on the right foot, while Szántay had two wins in foil to finish 2-1 against the Irish.
- The Sharks capped the day with dominant wins over Lawrence and Denison. Epee went 9-0 against Lawrence, and foil was right behind at 8-1. The two weapons squads were also 8-1 agaisnt Denison in the last match of the day.
- Up next, the Sharks host the City Square Off at home, Sunday, February 6, pairing off with Hunter to take on St. John's, NYU and Columbia.
