SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The LIU baseball team fell to Bryant on the road Sunday afternoon, 5-0. With the loss, LIU moves to 14-11 overall, 12-9 in the Northeast Conference.
Bryant would get on the board scoring one run in the bottom of the first inning on a two-out RBI single.
Starting pitcher
Alec Huertas was lights out for the next few innings, until the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Bryant hit back-to-back home runs, scoring four runs and widening the lead to 5-0.
The Sharks would get runners in scoring position, but Bryant's defense kept them from crossing the plate, and the Bulldogs took the series win.
Huertas (1-3) had the loss on the mound.
Patrick Clyne and
Ryan Neuweiler pitched well in relief, combining for 2.0 scoreless innings.
Up next, the Sharks welcome Mount St. Mary's to LIU Baseball Stadium for a three-game series. May 7-9.
