BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The LIU baseball team split with Mount St. Mary's at home Friday afternoon, falling in a pitcher's duel in game one, 1-0, before rallying to win game two, 5-0.
GAME ONE
In the first game of the day, the two teams were limited to just four hits each over nine innings. Starter
Joshua Loeschorn struck out eight batters over 7.0 innings, holding Mount to just two hits, but registered the loss on the mound. Mount's lone run came in the seventh on an RBI single, which would give them the 1-0 win.
GAME TWO
In the second game of the day, junior
Alec Huertas pitched a complete game shutout, striking out eight batters.
LIU would score all five runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Cade Biddle led off with a single to left field, and scored on an RBI single from
EJ Exposito.
Giovanni Ciaccio would bring home a run on an RBI single, before
Andy Camilo's single through the left side would score two runs, putting the Sharks up, 4-0. LIU would go all the way through the batting order, including two walks, before Biddle came back up, singling to shortstop to score the fifth run of the day.
With the split, the Sharks move to 15-12 overall, 13-10 in the Northeast Conference.
