STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – The LIU fencing team had three strong performances on day one of the NCAA National Championship. All three fencers performed well in rounds 1-3, and are in position to finish well in the fourth and fifth rounds Sunday.
Freshman
Chejsa-Kaili Seck stands in fifth in sabe after three rounds, having won 11 of her 15 bouts on day one, for a .733 win percentage.
Freshman
Laura Fekete did well in epee, winning 10 of her 15 bouts, for a .667 win percentage. She sits in seventh overall heading in to day two. And in foil, freshman
Anna Szántaywon 6 of her 13 bouts and sits in 12th in the standings heading in to the last two rounds.
LIU fencing will resume competition Sunday morning when rounds four and five begin at 9 a.m. Following rounds four and five, the top four qualifiers from each weapon will compete in their respective semifinals beginning at 1 p.m.
