STRATFORD, N.J. – The LIU bowling team had a tough first day at the Northeast Invitational hosted by Mount St. Mary's, going 1-4 in baker matches.
 
The Sharks had a win in the first match of the day, beating Morgan State, 871-842 (159-169, 178-154, 199-115, 187-218, 148-186).
 
The next four matches did not go as well for the Sharks. They lost to Chestnut Hill, 947-978 (217-237, 198-183, 202-164, 171-213, 159-181), Mount St. Mary's, 818-985 (172-176, 136-255, 167-166, 151-205, 192-183), North Carolina A&T, 929-1,008 (168-192, 192-204, 190-221, 207-194, 172-197) and Delaware State, 892-949 (168-192, 193-177, 156-185, 204-211, 171-185)
 
Up next, the Sharks continue play at the Northeast Invitational with traditional play Saturday against NC A&T, Monmouth, Felician, Caldwell and Delaware State, before entering bracket play Sunday.
