BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU men's indoor track & field team began competition this December, taking part in three local meets with a limited squad competing.
The Sharks,
who were picked to finish fourth in the NEC Preseason Poll, took part in the Fasttrack Season Opener (Dec. 3), the Bill Ward Invitational (Dec. 4), and the Seahawk Shootout (Dec. 10). All three meets took place at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island.
Fasttrack Season Opener – COMPLETE RESULTS
- Junior TJ Roberts finished third in the 60m finals, with a time of 7.34 seconds
- Freshman Connor Knight took part in the shot put, finishing with a final distance of 10.10m, good for 23rd.
Bill Ward Invitational – COMPLETE RESULTS
- Kimorie Shearman came in fifth in the finals of the 60m, with a time of 6.94, and fifth in the 500m finals, with a time of 1:05.85.
- Lucas Fernandez finished fourth in the 500m finals, in 1:05.69.
- In the 3000m finals, Darin Cofield came in 12th, with a time of 9:24.52.
- Krishna White came in second in the high jump, clearing 6'4.25".
Seahawk Shootout – COMPLETE RESULTS
- Shearman was a top finisher once again for LIU, coming in fourth in the 60m, with a time of 6.98. Teammates Jahsira J. Dunbar (9th – 7.10) and Joseph Fontes (10th – 7.10) joined him in the top 10.
- Sophomore Jordan McKenzie came in 11th in the finals of the 300m, in 35.54 seconds.
- In the men's mile, LIU had two top-8 performances: freshman Darin Cofield came in fifth with a time of 4:31.64, while Bryan Villafuerte placed eighth in 4:34.22.
- In the 60m hurdles, Roberts came in fourth in 8.60, while Abubakar Muhammed came in sixth in 8.69 seconds.
- Krishna White also took second in the high jump, clearing 6'6.75", while Dunbar came in eighth in the long jump, with a distance of 6.71m.
The Sharks re-open action in January, taking part in another Seahawk Shootout January 7 at Ocean Breeze.
