Walid Jarfani,
Phillip Baynes Jr., and
Sonjay Baylor-Reeves have earned NEC weekly award honors, the conference announced Wednesday.
Jarfani won the NEC's Track Athlete of the Week honor for the second straight week, this time after shining at the Raleigh Relays. He participated in two events, boasting a time of 1:52.55 in the 800 meter run (62nd place), and a time of 3:45.88 in the 1500 meter run, good for 48th place.
Baynes Jr.'s honor, the Co-Field Athlete of the Week award, comes after his mark of 15.25m in in the Triple Jump earned him seventh place at the Raleigh Relays. He was previously named Co-Field Athlete of Week during indoor season, back on Feb. 10.
Like Jarfani, Baylor-Reeves also earned recognition for the second straight week, taking home NEC Rookie of the Week honors yet again. She participated in the Monmouth Season Opener, competing in three events. The freshman placed third in the Shot Put (with a mark of 13.54m), third in Discus Throw (boasting a 41.10m mark), and sixth in Hammer Throw (a 45.27m mark).
All three also earned NEC Prime Performer nods this week, alongside fellow Shark
Hasnae Goulamzi.
