SMYRNA, Tenn. – The #25 Long Island University bowling team competed in the Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt over the weekend. The tournament featured 17 teams ranked within the top-25.

LIU went 6-6 across three days, finishing in 16th place out of 29 teams.

Friday Recap
The day began with an 838-827 loss to Kentucky Wesleyan. The Sharks bounced back with a 983-765 win over Spalding. LIU won a second straight baker match 912-847 against #15 Wisconsin-Whitewater. The first day of competition ended with back-to-back losses to McKendree and Drury.

Saturday Recap
LIU had a bye in the first round of the traditional matches. The team put 918 points led by a 222 from
Tyler Karpinecz and a 204 from
Patricia Kelly. The Sharks then took down Aurora 827-770. #3 Nebraska handed LIU a 1081-942 loss.
Francesca Rossi bowled a 210.
Brittany Lucci put up a 204. The Sharks then pulled off an upset over #7 Stephen F. Austin. Rossi and Kelli Frain led the team to a 994-921 win. The day concluded with a 1125-955 loss to #21 UAB.

Sunday Recap
The Sharks began with 4-0 win over #8 Youngstown State. Game two was a rematch with Wisconsin-Whitewater. The teams tied three-and-a-half to three-and-a-half. LIU took the game with a 109-106 win in the roll off. #19 Maryville defeated LIU 4-1 in the final match of the tournament.
