STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The Long Island University fencing team closed out its regular season at the Wagner Invitational on Sunday afternoon. The Sharks defeated Yeshiva 22-3 then fell to the host Seahawks 21-6.
 
The Maccabees were undermanned in the epee, leading to a 9-0 victory in the event. Manny Kaur, Karen Valasquez, and Madyson D'Angelo earned bout wins in the foil. Nikita Louis and Jasmine Hagans locked up a 5-2 victory in the sabre.
 
The Sharks did not tally a point against Wagner until the epee. The trio of Faith Ferraro, Aline Chen, and Grace Scura captured a 6-3 victory.
 
Up next, LIU awaits to see if any competitors qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships scheduled for March 8.
