STRATFORD, N.J. – The Long Island University bowling team wrapped up day one of the final Northeast Conference meet of the regular season on Saturday. The Sharks competed in for matches, going 2-2 on the day.

The tournament format was a best-of-seven Baker series, with each team competing in four games on the day.

LIU took down first place seed #10 Duquesne 4-3 in the first match, gaining ground on the Dukes in the NEC standings. The Sharks strung together three straight wins after trailing 3-1. The second match of the day saw LIU take on #14 Mount St. Mary's. The Mounties defeated the Sharks 4-3 despite a comeback effort from the blue and gold.

Long Island took care of business in the third match, downing St. Francis Brooklyn 4-2. The day ended with a 4-3 loss to #13 Sacred Heart.

Action from 30 strikes Bowling Center resumes tomorrow at 9:05 a.m. against #17 FDU. Â The top-five finishers of the tournament earn conference championships bids scheduled for March 20.
