BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The Long Island University women's basketball team closes out its homestand at the Steinberg Wellness Center on Monday, February 17 with a 7:00 p.m. contest against Sacred Heart.

- LIU suffered a 71-54 setback to local rival, St. Francis Brooklyn on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Brandy Thomas recorded a team-high 13 points to go with four assists and three steals. Sophomore Ryan Weise added 10 points and seven boards. Sophomore Kiara Bell tied her career-high with 13 rebounds and finished with eight points for the Sharks.
- Sacred Heart comes into Monday's matchup with an 8-15 record on the year and a 5-7 mark in NEC play. The Pioneers are in the midst of a four-game losing skid
- Junior guard Adrianne Hagood leads the Pioneers and ranks second in the NEC in scoring with 16.8 points per game this season. She also ranks third in the NEC with a 42.4% field goal percentage and 2.3 made three-point field goals per game. SHU also features two more scorers averaging double figures in junior Jayla Davis (10.3 ppg) and redshirt-junior Nikki Johnson (10.2 ppg). Junior Abigail Kangudie leads the team with 7.7 rebounds per game and has added 1.5 blocks per game.
- Sacred Heart leads the all-time series over LIU, 24-16. Both teams split the season series last year with each team winning on their home court. LIU earned a 69-64 win over the Pioneers on February 18, 2019 at the Barclays Center. Jeydah Johnson led the team with 20 points and Brandy Thomas contributed a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The Sharks will hit the road for a two-game weekend, first up for LIU is a 5:30 p.m. matchup against Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday, February 21 at the Rothman Center. It will be the opening game of a doubleheader with the men's teams.
