Box Score FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Just 24 hours after winning their season opener, the LIU men's basketball team saw the script flipped, as Sacred Heart won the second matchup between the two teams, 87-72. A trio of upperclassmen led LIU, as Ty Flowers, Jermaine Jackson Jr. and Eral Penn all scored in double digits in the loss.

• On their second night of action, LIU struggled to make shots, hitting just 28 percent in the first half, and improving slightly to 37.84 percent in the second half. LIU also shot 24.1 percent from behind the arc.
• Senior Ty Flowers was the team's top scorer for the second night in a row, putting up 23 points with five rebounds and two steals.
• Junior Jermaine Jackson Jr. also had a strong showing for LIU, with 21 points, along with five assists to lead the Sharks. And junior Eral Penn had a double double, with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Penn also added three assists, two block and two steals to fill the stat line.
• Junior Jack Ballantyne chipped in nine points.
• The Sharks were down just four points at the half time break, 35-31, but couldn't stave off Sacred Heart's late run.
• At the 13-minute mark, the Pioneers went on a 13-3 run that gave them a 61-48 advantage with 10 minutes to play, and LIU never quite recovered. The Sharks would come within nine points, but that is as close as they would get, as SHU's offense exploded, and the home team took the win, 87-72.
• Up next, the Sharks (1-1 NEC) have a break until 2021, when they will open at home in Brooklyn against NEC foe Saint Francis U., January 7.
