CROYDON, Pa. – After over a month away from the lanes, the Long Island University bowling team returned to action, co-hosting the Northeast Invitational on Friday. The Sharks finished the first day of competition with a 2-3 record, going up against four teams ranked within the top-15.

The day began with a matchup against #2 Sam Houston State. The Bearkats defeated the Sharks 995-916. LIU faced off against Kutztown in the second match, taking down the Golden Bears 900-727. The third match of the day was against #1 Mckendree. LIU fell 1,025-839.

The fourth baker game saw the Blue and Gold take on #15 Maryville. The Saints beat LIU 897-834. The day ended in success for the Sharks as they bested #9 Youngstown State 884-870 in the final baker game of the first day of competition.

Up next, LIU stays in Croydon for the second day of the Northeast Invitational. The Sharks are set to battle #18 Wisconsin-Whitewater, #8 Stephen F. Austin, #5 Vanderbilt, New Jersey City University, and Tusculum. Play resumes tomorrow at 9:25 a.m.
