YORK, Pa. – The Long Island University bowling team wrapped up the second Northeast Conference meet of the regular season in strong fashion, going 2-1 in Sunday's traditional matches, to finish the weekend with a 4-2 record. After a 5-1 performance at the first meet, LIU is now 9-3 in conference action so far this season.
LIU started the day with a win over local rival St. Francis Brooklyn, beating the Terriers 977-939. The Sharks were led by a 222 from sophomore
Rhianna Smith. LIU then had a big win over #13 nationally-ranked Mount St. Mary's, beating the Mountaineers, 956-925. In that match, senior Tyler Karpincez led LIU with a 216, while Smith had a 200.
LIU capped the meet with a loss, dropping a close decision to #19 Sacred Heart, 817-926.
Up next, the Sharks take a hiatus for winter break, and resume competition in 2020. LIU will take co-host the Northeast Classic with Sacred Heart, January 17-19 at AMF Bristol Pike Lanes, in Croyton, Pa.
