YORK, Pa. – The Long Island University bowling team continued their Northeast Conference hot streak Saturday afternoon, as the Sharks went 2-1 on the first day of NEC Meet No. 2. The Sharks, who came into the meet with a 5-1 conference record, are now 7-2 in NEC play, with one more day of action in this weekend's tournament.
LIU opened the day with an upset win over #17 nationally-ranked Fairleigh Dickinson, beating the Knights 927-904. The Sharks were led by a 225 from junior
Kellie Frain, and a 215 from senior
Tyler Karpinecz.
The Sharks then took on Duquesne, who jumped to #10 in the latest NTCA rankings poll. The Dukes beat LIU, 868-999.
And LIU capped the day with a win over Saint Francis U., 897-748, led by a 228 from Karpinecz.
Up next, LIU rounds out the weekend's meet with three more traditional matches Sunday, December 8, taking on St. Francis Brooklyn, #13 Mount St. Mary's and #19 Sacred Heart.
