DOVER, Del. - The LIU men's basketball team will head to Delaware to start the week, in the second of eight straight games on the road. The Sharks will not return home to downtown Brooklyn for over a month, playing in seven different states over nearly 40 days. Next up: Delaware State, Monday, November 18 at 7 p.m. Both the Sharks and the Hornets are looking for their first wins of the season, both with 0-3 records.
SHARK BITES
- The Hornets (0-3) have had a rocky start to the season. They opened the year with a home loss to Rider (81-54) and a road loss to Manhattan (85-74), and are coming off of a tough loss on the road against Georgia, 100-66.
- The Hornets are led by three players averaging in double figures: senior guard John Crosby (16.0 ppg), junior forward Ameer Bennett (11.7 ppg, 6.7 rpg) and sophomore guard John Stansbury (10.3 ppg).
- The Sharks are coming off a tough 80-74 loss to George Mason last week. LIU was led by 26 points from redshirt senior Raiquan Clark, and a double double from redshirt junior Ty Flowers, who had 13 points and 14 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to escape the Patriots.
- It was Flowers' third-straight double double this season, a stat that currently ranks him tied for No. 1 in the nation in double doubles. He also had three assists, two blocks and a steal in the loss.
- Sophomore Virshon Cotton had a season-high 11 points, and a team high four assists and two steals.
- Senior Jashaun Agosto had 14 points, going 5-for-8 from the field, while sophomore Jermaine Jackson Jr. had his first eight points as a Shark.
