THE FIRST LOOK
Long Island University and Fairleigh Dickinson University both advanced to Sunday's championship match in two very different fashions on Friday. The Sharks dominated Bryant University, scoring a season-high four goals to take down the Bulldogs. Fourth-seeded FDU upset top seed and host Saint Francis University (Pa.) in penalty kicks, 3-1 to earn its championship berth.

THE LAST TIME THEY MET

The Sharks and Knights last met on Oct. 18 in Teaneck, N.J. with the Blue and Gold earning a 1-0 victory. Sophomore
Xavier Verdu scored during the 62nd minute to help lift LIU to a victory, sparking a four-match winning streak.
SCOUTING THE SHARKS

It was all LIU during the semifinal match against Bryant. The trio of All-NEC performers scored for the Sharks, with senior
Kyle Parish scoring twice, while freshmen
Papa Ndoye and
Keanu Tuart each scored once. For Tuart, the goal was the first of his career and gave the Sharks a 2-0 lead late in the first half. Senior
Matias Pesallaccia made five saves in goal to earn the shutout victory.

With the win, LIU returns to the NEC championship match for the second-consecutive season and the Sharks are searching for their fifth NEC Tournament title. LIU and FDU last met in the NEC championship match during the 2004 season with LIU earning a 1-0 victory.

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS

FDU held off a powerful Saint Francis attack all afternoon during the semifinals, fighting off 25 shot attempts. Jahmali Waite was superb in goal for the Knights, making seven saves in regulation to force the game into penalty kicks. During the shootout, Waite stopped three of the Red Flash's four attempts to lift FDU into the championship match.

The Knights tallied 14 shot attempts and four shots on goal during the run of play, led by a team-best six shots and two shots on goal by Diego Arribas.
