BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Long Island University bowling team will head south, to Rockaway, N.J., to take part in the Caldwell Cougar Classic this weekend. The Sharks will take part in the event, taking place at Rockaway Lanes, Friday, October 25 through Sunday, October 27.
Play for the event will consist of five baker matches on Friday, five traditional match Saturday, and a traditional match followed by two best-of-7 baker matches on Sunday.
SCOUTING THE FIELD
This weekend's field consists of some of the top teams in the country, including two of the toughest Northeast Conference teams. In addition to #24 nationally-ranked LIU, the tournament will also host #7 University of Maryland Eastern Shore, #9 Fairleigh Dickinson, #11 Sacred Heart, and #25 Monmouth.
LAST TIME OUT
The Sharks are coming off another strong performance at SHU's annual Bowl for a Cure. LIU actually tied for first with Molloy, finishing team play with a 4-1 record, but earned second in the standings because of the tiebreaker. Additionally, senior
Tyler Karpinecz was named Tournament MVP for her performance in the team event, and finished third in the individual competition to lead LIU. Junior
Rhianna Smith was also named to the All-Tournament Team for her performance.
