READING, Pa. – The LIU bowling team concluded play at the Bud Whitman Memorial tournament Sunday, finishing the day with a 2-3 record, good for eighth in the standings. The Sharks recorded a total pinfall of 4,530 on the day.
Junior
Emily Cavanaugh was named to the All-Tournament team for her performance in Saturday's Baker matches. Cavanaugh finished second individually, averaging 217.5. Junior
Patricia Kelly also had a top ten finish, coming in seventh, averaging 206.3.
Sunday, in the traditional matches, LIU opened with a loss to Wilmington, 886-918. Junior
Kellie Frain led the team, bowling a 224. Frain would also lead the squad in a loss to Howard, as she had a 201, and the Sharks fell by a narrow margin, 877-879.
LIU would bounce back with two straight wins. First, the Sharks beat Molly, 927-826, led by senior
Tyler Karpinecz's 212, and then they defeated Felician, 944-922, led by Frain's 223, and a 210 from Karpinecz. LIU capped the day with a loss to Kutztown, 896-954. Frain was again the leader, with a 223, while Kelly had a 205.
Up next is Sacred Heart's Annual Bowl for a Cure, taking place Saturday, October 19 at AMF Circle Lanes, in East Haven, Conn.
