READING, Pa. – The LIU women's bowling team had an outstanding first day at the Bud Whitman Memorial tournament. In Saturday's Baker portion, the Sharks went 3-2, finishing fourth overall. LIU downed 4,830 total Baker pins, for a 193.2 average per game at Berks Lane.
No. 24 nationally-ranked LIU started the day with two tough losses, dropping their first match of the day to No. 21 Mount St. Mary's, 847-968, before falling to No. 22 Adelphi, 934-999.
But the Sharks would bounce back, and win their next three baker matches. LIU beat Mount Aloysius, 1028-854, before going on to beat Bloomfield, 1049-770, and Coppin State, 972-793.
Up next, the Sharks continue play at the Bud Whitman, taking part in five traditional team matches, Sunday, October 13.
